I just downloaded a new Salient but the version is 4. I was expecting it to be the latest version 8. How do I get version 8? It seems to be wrong in the Envato market.

My old version 4 had a problem in Wordpress 4.8.1 in that the home slider stopped working - would not play or change slides. I expected Version 8 would solve the problem.

    Thanks

    Hey Again,

Try using another Browser and Download in a Different Folder . The Themeforest Download section always has the latest version .

Please update to Salient Theme Version 8.0.2 and Salient VC 5.2.1.

If you are not seeing the Plugin Update Notification you need to uncheck the " Disable Theme Reccomended Plugin Notifications " Field in "Salient Theme Options Panel"  -> General Settings -> "Toggle Theme Features" Section .

Salient VC 4.9.2 and earlier users will need to delete the plugin from your plugins section in the WordPress admin panel before installing the current version in Appearance > Install Plugins - This is necessary due to a bug in the Salient VC 4.9.2 which prevents regular updating.

To get a list of Bug Fixes and new Feature addons in the Latest Theme update,  the changelog can be viewed here : http://themenectar.com/changelogs/salient.html .

Update the theme by following this guide: http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/updating-salient/ .

    Best.

    Hi Tahir -

I managed to install the version 8 using Envato Market plugin, and installed the Salient Visual Composer plugin VC 5.2.1, so everything is working fine on backend. I tried making the new Salient theme active to rule out problems in my child theme. I turned off page transitions so I wouldn't get the loading wheel - my page never loaded at all until I did.

Now I have two new issues. My Nectar sliders do not display at all. My home slider is stuck with loading icon and images never load.

    I'm getting really discouraged.

A reinstall of Salient a different way and some cache clearing has my home slider and Nectar slider working, but with some issues remaining. But looks like I have to rework my child theme before I can use it.

Chrome issues: My home slider buttons do not advance my slides. Navigation is working poorly - On nav items that have sub-items, the first dropdown menu gets stuck and none of the others will display, again in Chrome, but not safari. Is Chrome not supported!

Search is also an issue in Chrome: When I click search and type and can't see what I'm typing - looks like nothing is happening. But when I enter the search goes through. Why is my search entry text invisible?

Further investigation shows the search problem of invisible text seems to be specific to chrome. It works as expected in Safari. Is this a known issue?

This has been a really difficult update.

    Hey there,

    Thanks for reaching in,

I've tested the home slider buttons, navigation dropdowns, search on chrome, edge, mozilla and safari and they seem to be working fine, can you please update your cache and confirm?

    Use the following plugin http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-super-cache/

Thanks Andrew - I tried your suggestion and it made no difference.

    I still have

    • Search shows no "START TYPING" text
    • Home slider does not change slides
    • Main navigation dropdown menus get stuck on first top level item hovered. Submenu will not close and none of the other sub-menu navs will drop down.

I am to the point where I think my only option is to downgrade wordpress and your plugin. That's going to be a hassle. And I paid $60 for this upgrade! Can I get my money back, or some kind of escalated support?

You can see my issues on www.salisburycooperative.com in chrome browser.

Just to let you know how I finally solved this issue in google chrome...

I had to go to Library/Application Support/Google and delete the chrome directory. Maybe some corruption?

    Site working again - damn!

Not a problem with your theme.

    Thanks, and close this ticky.
