I have been trying to change the color schemes of the navigation bar and drop down navigation and the colors DO NOT change.
I had to separate the navigation bars for it to look some what decent.
Right now I have one drop down menu option under PRODUCTS >>> CASH BALANCE. Please take a look at my screen shots. The colors are not adjusting to what I am setting the colors as.
It is mandatory for me to ask whether your theme is updated so we can rule out bugs from past releases of the theme.
Step 2:
Please try deactivating your third party plugins one by one while clearing your cache each time in order to figure out if one of them is causing this. Also I suggest you test your customization on the child theme by deactivating the child theme. See if there's anything on your customization causing this.
Please note this steps are meant to help us rule out the possible causes of the issue and narrow down at an effective solution for you.

Please update to Salient Theme Version 8.1.0.
To get a list of Bug Fixes and new Feature add ons in the Latest Theme update, the changelog can be viewed here : http://themenectar.com/changelogs/salient.html .
Update the theme by following this guide: http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/updating-salient/

That was not it either. I tried that multiple times. I also reset the section to default settings which did not work.
