Erratic anchor link scrolling

I have been waiting 2 weeks for your response after you started escalating the ticket. - And had to renew for continued support in the meantime. But for some reason it did not let me reply to the original post. It's closed yet completely unresolved.

As mentioned in the previous thread, I have since removed the useless menu from my site. Right, no menu for my visitors, that's where it's at. It's embarrassing. The dev site has the menu, minus the two Nectar sliders that you suspected to be at the root of the problem. But it's not working.

    I am not happy.

    Original post:

Hi Again I'm experiencing erratic anchor link scroll behaviour. "WORK" for example seems to always be scrolling all the way up for example, other menu links have varied results. I've made sure I am up to date with WP Salient and Salient VC. I'm only using 3 other rather harmless plugins (All in One SEO Pack, MailPoet 3 and Contact Form 7).

    Please advise.

    Thanks Simon

Hey Simon, thanks so much for your patience!

I tracked down the issue - it was caused by the portfolio element on the page which set the starting filter to a category which had a significant size difference (height wise) from the category the page loads with (all). I've updated the animated scrolling function in the theme to fix this scenario so everything should be working now on your end. If you don't see it fixed, try clearing your browser cache

Also, unless you need or would like to keep your new support pack - if you request a refund for it on Envato I'd be happy to approve it since you shouldn't of had to pay extra to get this fix. https://themeforest.net/refund_requests/new

    Cheers

Also, here's a copy of the current beta which includes the fix you need in case you want to upload it on the production version: https://www.dropbox.com/s/s4ozq0jcwyizyo6/salient.zip?dl=0

Thank you very much for addressing this, and for the refund.

True, the menu works if the starting portfolio category is set to "default".

But I'm having trouble uploading the beta you provided. Uploading the zip with or without removing Salient first always results in the "Are you sure you want to do this?" dialog. And generating a token in the Envato Market plugin only enables me to access the regular version 8.5.5. - What am I missing?

    Thanks
    Simon

    Hey Again,

Please have a look at this Article :http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/updating-salient/ and use Below method.

    Downloading/Reuplodading

With Using Easy Theme Upgrades Plugin

    • Step 1. Download the Salient theme archive from ThemeForest
    • Step 2. Head over to Appearance > Themes in your WordPress dashboard
    • Step 3. Click the Add New button on this page followed by the Upload button when prompted
    • Step 4. Locate the salient.zip file you extracted from the ThemeForest download archive and click the Install Now button
    • Step 5. Choose Yes In the Upgrade existing theme? option from the dropdown list
    • Step 6. Click Install Now followed by Activate

If still you cant upload it .

Your PHP Settings are likely not correct. Also ensure you are running PHP version 7.1 and not 7.2 as its incompatible .

You can verify your PHP configuration limits by installing a simple plugin called WordPress phpinfo http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-php-info/

Recommended PHP configuration limits are as follows:

    • max_execution_time 60
    • memory_limit 256M
    • post_max_size 48M
    • upload_max_filesize 48M

Please have your hosting provider fix this for you so it can be installed correctly.

    Thanks

Thank you for detailed instructions. My server is currently running PHP 7.03, which apparently is no good either for using that plugin. I'm looking into that upgrade with my provider.

Another question is why actually the entire portfolio gets loaded if the starting category is only a small section thereof. My portfolio containing around 100 items makes the initial site load quite slow. - Any hopes of changing that?

    Thanks

Thank you for your continued support.

I upgraded the PHP on my site and had version 7.1.15 confirmed by the plugin. I also applied all the PHP settings as advised. However, I'm still getting the "Are you sure you want to do this?" prompt when uploading the Beta version.

    Please advise.

    Hey Again,

In that case you will have to check the PHP error logs to actually see what the error is .

Please check for server php errors using this guide: http://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/your-complete-guide-to-troubleshooting-wordpress/

When I tried the upload again today, the beta installed without further ado. It seemed like the PHP needed a moment to kick in... The website is now working as expected!

    Consider this ticket closed.

    Thanks!
