I'am testing in a new fresh WP installation and Visual Composer does not work, maybe the theme need first to be registrated but I don't where to do that.
Is there a list of shortcodes to work in the Classic mode?
Could you try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.
So as I said before, it is a clean installation without plugins. Without demo content Visual Composer did not work and with demo content either. If I click the + window it comes up, but I can't choose an element.
I am afraid we cant help troubleshoot Mamp installations . Alot of users have reported that installing the Theme on a Live Server has fixed such issues.
My way of working is that I first build the site in MAMP and if everything functioned properly upload the site to the server. It is very strange that your Theme does not work in MAMP. I use to work with different themes without problems. So I am afraid that I will cancel the sale and want to withdraw the amount I paid.
It works perfectly on MAMP / WAMP i have it installed on WAMP as well . There is something likely wrong with your install of MAMP or certain Option that is causing the Issue . Try turning on WP_debug as that might show an issue . Also look for Browser Console Errors: https://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Your_Browser_to_Diagnose_JavaScript_Errors .
Moreover please provide a screenshot of the issue so i can make better sense of it.

Hey
Your PHP Settings are likely not correct.
You can verify your PHP configuration limits by installing a simple plugin called WordPress phpinfo http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-php-info/
Recommended PHP configuration limits are as follows:
Please have your hosting provider fix this for you so it can be installed correctly.
Thanks
