I did not build this site but I need to make changes to it. it is built in Salient, and I purchased the theme just so I could get support. I do not want the large on the home page to be a slider, no arrows or transition...just a large image that stretches to the whole size of the screen (responsive). How do I do that?

Have you had a look in the Docs : http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/sliders/ . Simply delete the Nectar Slides in the WP Dashboard and only a single will show.

I have that done, but I do not want the arrows to show. Also it looks like it is trying to fade in, then the one image shows up
