I tried that, and as soon as I click update, the box for Blog disappears..I have tried it several times and it disappears. I do not want one of our blog categories to show up on this page. The settings have this as our Blog index page. I turned that off, and the whole area where content shows when dark grey.
On our Media Blog page,I don't want all the posts to show. How do I hid certain posts from this page?

Remove that particular page in Settings -> Reading in the WP Dashboard and then create a page and place the VC Blog element in it.
