I own the SalientVersion: 5.5.3 and the WPBakery Visual Composer Version 5.0.1. I have tried every way I know how to upgrade this theme. When using only the js_composer_salient plugin, I have no element buttons for vc, just a white opaque screen on my posts and pages when trying to even add a row. When I try to add just the wpbakery visual composer, without the salient composer, I lose all of my custom code added to each page and every page reset the design. Please lead me to determine what I need to do to fix this site so I can create blogs again.

    Hey Oakstreet,

Simply update the Theme and Salient VC Plugin  .

Salient 7.6 is available for Download on the Themeforest Download Page , Visual Composer has also been Updated to Version 4.12.1.

If you're upgrading from Salient VC 4.9.2 earlier, you'll need to delete the plugin from your plugins section in the WordPress admin panel before installing the current version (4.12.1) in Appearance > Install Plugins - This is necessary due to a bug in the Salient VC 4.9.2 which prevents regular updating.

To get a list of Bug Fixes and new Feature addons in the Latest Theme update,  the changelog can be viewed here : http://themenectar.com/changelogs/salient.html .

Update the theme by following this guide: http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/updating-salient/ .

    Best.

    Hey Again,

Try to check for server php errors using this guide: http://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/your-complete-guide-to-troubleshooting-wordpress/ .

It might be that your PHP Settings are not correct.

You can verify your PHP configuration limits by installing a simple plugin called WordPress phpinfo http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-php-info/

Recommended PHP configuration limits are as follows:

    • max_execution_time 60
    • memory_limit 256M
    • post_max_size 48M
    • upload_max_filesize 48M

Please have your hosting provider fix this for you so it can be installed correctly.

    Thanks
