I am having this issue too after updating to version 8, but I do not have a header.php file in my child theme folder as reference in the article linked to below. Please advise.
I looked in the "inspect" panel (place your cursor on what you want to inspect, then right-click the inspect link at the bottom of the box) and discovered that the code was asking for a logo image that I had removed and replaced with a new image with a different name.
So I simply deleted the new logo image and re-uploaded it with the original name of the previous (now long gone) image. Now it works.
I hope that this strategy will work for you. You've got find out what the robot wants - which image is it asking for? and obey :).
Don't be scared of the "inspect" panel, you can't change anything on it, but it's useful to see what's going on.
Thanks Juliette. I am actually familiar with the inspection tool, and I did go to that first to see what was going on, but I still could not diagnose the problem. However, I just cleared my cache and now the logo seems to be working again. No clue what made it disappear in the first place, but I guess it fixed itself somehow. Thanks again!
Yes, thanks for the follow-up Tahir. Not sure what was going on, but the logos are appearing for me now. I'm assuming there was a caching issue after the version 8 update.
I have uploaded a logo image and retina image but the logo fails to show.
