Do any portions of the Performance Optimization Guide need to be updated in light of Version 8's "Added adaptive image sizing"? I'm basically wondering which portions of the image optimization are now automatically handled by version 8 of the Salient?
Am I correct that Adaptive Images dynamically resizes the pictures depending on the device while Image Optimization Plugins permanently adjust the quality? Doesn't the ideal quality partially depend on the size?
Also, has the name of the "iconsmind library" referenced in the optimization guide name changed or will it only appear in the Manage enqueued CSS files listing if used?
I am using EWWW (one of the two options recommended in the optimization guide) and have bulk optimized my media. However, I am still seeing a warning that some of my images are "resized in HTML or CSS. Serving scaled images could save 1.6MiB (94% reduction)." (see https://gtmetrix.com/reports/beta.loneprairiecamp.com/k15DaVuY ). Shouldn't Adaptive Images dynamically resizes the pictures depending on the device (ie. avoid this issue)? I thought Adaptive Images dynamically resizes the pictures depending on the device while Image Optimization Plugins permanently adjust the quality (ie. the latter wouldn't address this specific warning)?
The optimization guide references "iconsmind library", but I don't see it in my list. Has this library been renamed (ie. should I be excluding a different css file from getting combined with all the others to avoid display issues) or will it only appear in my "Manage enqueued CSS files" list when in use?
"The reason we suggest BWP minify over other solutions is because it’s free and provides great control over the minification process. There are other plugins out there that can get the job done – but keep you in the dark over the process and don’t allow you to configure the settings deeply." OK
1: You seem to be using the Custom Thumbnail option which does not resize the images . Only Portfolio Images added in the Featured Image Metabox are resized . Hence you are getting the error .
2: You must not be using that icon set . Its not compulsory to add it in there .
Is lazy loading built into Salient? If not, are there any compatible plugins?
Hey Again,
No its not built in . Also we havent tested any particular plugins so can not recommend any .
Please have a look at this Article :http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/performance-optimization-guide/ .

Thanks!
Hey Again,
Adaptive Images are a WP Core feature and Salient now Supports it so you dont need to do any thing as such on your end .
You can however use Image Optimization Plugins such as WP Smush and likes if need be.

If the Salient theme now supports Adaptive Images, why are some of my images apparently being resized in the HTML and/or CSS: https://gtmetrix.com/reports/beta.loneprairiecamp.com/k15DaVuY ?

Why does the Optimization Guide recommend using BWP Minify if W3 Total Cache has minify settings?
Hey Again,
1: Try a Image Optimization Plugin like WP Smush .
2: Not sure what you mean .
3: Its answered in the guide : http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/performance-optimization-guide/#minification .
