The "Standard Blog No sidebar" element ignores column boundaries. This means that if you want to have a two column layout with this element on the left then whatever you have on the right will get covered by the blog text.
Even if you have your blog on the right column things don't work - I believe elements go full width.
If you use the sidebar version of the blog then it does respect the column width, but of course then you have a sidebar, which I don't want.
Temporarily I've moved my content I wanted on the top right beside the blog to the bottom of the page, but it would be better if the blog "did the right thing".
