Regarding your query here, I don't think that there's such a feature specifically for Salient theme by default. This is possible, however, this will require some complex customization job including alteration of the source code which is outside of our service scope. For this, I would suggest you contact custom developers such as in http://codeable.io so they can work something out for you.

My client would like to display the portfolio category articles in a sidebar list.
The salient theme options have carousel options (see URL) but not a simple ordered list of recent articles (6) linked to the portfolio pages.
3rd party sidebar plugins are not compatible because they work with posts, not portfolios tags
Can anyone recommend a way to have the theme display a simple (linked) ordered list of recent portfolio items?
