I have started a new site using WordPress 4.8.1, Salient 8 and Visual Composer 5.0.11.
My problem is that the Page builder is not working properly with font styles. I can add a text block and edit with the Text Block Settings but cannot select font styles (Heading 1, 2 etc) or change the color of the text. In each of these two cases the 'Paragraph' drop down menu only has the Paragraph inside but no styles and clicking on the down arrow just makes it turn upwards. This is the same with the text color - no colors.
All of the other icons such as bold, italic etc all work perfectly well.
I have reinstalled Wordpress and the Salient theme again plus Visual Composer and even imported some dummy data but the font issue has not resolved. Have I missed a critical stage?
The site is: performancevenues.group.shef.ac.uk but there is currently nothing to view.
Are you running any caching plugins? Try clearing your cache as it should be working. If it's still not working you might have a plugin that's conflicting with it, only way to find out is by disabling them one at a time and checking each time to see if it's resolved the issue.
Please update to Salient Theme Version 8.0.2 and Salient VC 5.2.1.
If you are not seeing the Plugin Update Notification you need to uncheck the " Disable Theme Reccomended Plugin Notifications " Field in "Salient Theme Options Panel" -> General Settings -> "Toggle Theme Features" Section .
Salient VC 4.9.2 and earlier users will need to delete the plugin from your plugins section in the WordPress admin panel before installing the current version in Appearance > Install Plugins - This is necessary due to a bug in the Salient VC 4.9.2 which prevents regular updating.
I'm having the same issue here. but the latest version shown are Salient 8.016 and Salient VC 5.0.11. I even installed envato market plugin hoping it may show newer version but no..
I couldn't get it to show the update available either thibaud_be so I manually updated the theme by downloading the latest copy from Themeforest. Then went into plugins and under Salient Visual Composer I could see there was an update available.
Tahir - Any chance of a 'Check for updates' option in the admin panel at some point?

Text Block Settings window is hiding the dropdown options. Perhaps the Z-Index is set too high. I emailed support about it.
If you drag the text block editing window to the left or right you'll see the dropdown options behind it!

I tried this and it doesn't work on my side. I have 2 websites with your theme and they both have the same issue. Could it be because of WP 4.8.1?

I'm running 4.8.1 on my site and the bugfix works fine.
Did you add the Code Snippets plugin and add the hotfix?

I've updated Salient VC to 5.2.1, Salient is at 8.16
Now it works for me!

thibaud_be I redownloaded Salient from Themeforest and reinstalled the VC Plug in only. Maybe that could fix your issue too.

Fixed by uninstalling VC then re-installing it from the latest themeforest salient package
