On my site I have a nectar slider (about half way down the site) with a video background slide (Elaine's Story). In Google Chrome the video plays well, in Safari it takes a minute to load but never actually plays. It just sits there at the first frame of the video. Any suggestion on a possible fix for that? Thank you!
Hey, thanks for the response. I have done as much trouble shooting as I can on my end. Everything is updated to the latest version and I’ve made sure my video files are the type they need to be. In my quest for the answer I came across other users having trouble with video backgrounds. Their problems were different but in every case the nectar slider video background does not play in safari. I’ve tried on multiple machines. Maybe I’m still missing something! Thanks again for your help!
Just a thought, but Safari 11 now blocks background videos from autoplaying in the latest release, doesn't it? I also am having this issue, and I'm properly using mp4 and webm as instructed. It always worked before, but recently, without changing anything, it no longer autoplays on safari. Is there a workaround to force a poster to show on Safari for the time being?
Safari console is reporting: Unhandled Promise Rejection: NotAllowedError (DOM Exception 35): The request is not allowed by the user agent or the platform in the current context, possibly because the user denied permission. (anonymous function) rejectPromise play playVideoBG – nectar-slider.js:4491:141 (anonymous function) – nectar-slider.js:4440
EDIT: Confirming that if I change the settings in the Safari 11 Preferences / Websites / Auto-Play, the video will play as intended. It seems to flag videos with an audio track by default and stops it from playing. Going to try a video without one and report back.
EDIT 2: Removing the audio tracks works for now, as the default for safari 11 is to block autoplay on any videos with sound. Should still be an option to show a poster for safari in the future, however, or some better solution than I've been able to manage in about an hour futzing with this thing :P

Hey there,
Thanks for reaching in,
Please try plugin compatibility test by deactivating your third party plugins one by one and checking whether the issue occurs on safari.
Regards

My example site:
https://111firstdelray.com - using webm and mp4, loads first frame but not autoplaying on safari.
