I am trying to launch a clients website in the next few days and everything is working great other than the nectar slider video background on safari. I went through some other tickets and couldn't fix the problem.
I added a few lines to my htaccess that was recommended and I have already run my videos through a converter. And both webm and mp4 are uploaded to the site. All plugins are updated, I cant figure out whats going on.
There is currently and issue with Safari 11 and background videos.
By default Safari will block the playing of the video if it has an audio track to it. Removing the audio from the video will allow it to be autoplayed.
Change the settings in the Safari 11 Preferences / Websites / Auto-Play, the video will play as intended with the audio track if the above solution is not possible.
The developers are aware of this issue and they are looking into it. Apologies for the inconvenience.
I actually have already removed the audio from the video and my settings in safari have auto play turned on. Could there be anything else still causing the video to not show?
Hmmm. running the videos through https://video.online-convert.com and making sure the disable audio track is checked worked for me. I thought I disabled the audio when I first optimized the videos but I guess not. It now works in Safari! Thanks!
