I have a question regarding the child theme modification for the Salient theme. I installed the parent version of this theme before and just recently installed its Child Theme, no type of coding was done. All I did to the site was just uploaded photos and made minor adjustments to text, and layout etc.
I’m now aware of how the child theme thing works and installed it secondary. My question now is, how do I update to the latest theme without losing anything I worked on previously? Can I just go ahead and update - without worrying if I'll lose what I had? My sites backed up by the way. But just was wondering before taking that step forward....
The child theme has already synced the parent theme’s settings, I just need to update to the most recent version of the theme itself.
As long as all your customizations have been moved to the child theme as opposed to the main theme I don't think you should have a problem. Updating your main theme will definitely overwrite your customizations if you don't move them to the child theme.

As long as all your customizations have been moved to the child theme as opposed to the main theme I don't think you should have a problem. Updating your main theme will definitely overwrite your customizations if you don't move them to the child theme.
