There are a lot of colours that are hard coded into the theme's style sheet that over-complicate the colour settings for a site. Ideally, you want to be able to set a colour palette and then use that globally. For example, setting the 'overall font colour' in Salient settings doesn't execute properly across the whole site.
What happens with Salient, is you have to write a lot of custom css to override the colours (a lot of the greys) in the style.css.
Keen to let the dev team know and get their thoughts as to whether this may be a good feature upgrade.
