I was wondering that would it be possible to modify the recent projects widget to so that it would display recent shots from dribble or eg pinterest?

It would take some custom development - unfortunately there's no easy way to go about that, but if you want to take a stab at the code, the markup for that shortcode lives inside of shortcode-processing.php which is located in the nectar/tinymce directory :)
