Yeah. I'm not thrilled with how I got it working. What I did was add better font awesome to pull in the latest version of font awesome from a CDN. I'm a bit worried about that from a security perspective.
Is there a way to do this directly within the theme. We found the functions.php code that calls font awesome but modifying this doesn't seem to do it. There is some overwrite going on that is pulling font awesome from maxcdn - is that something built into the theme? If so, how do we alter that call?!
I would like to add social media support for Telegram and for Medium to my Salient implementation.
How do I do that?!

I dont see any issue your way . I believe you had to add in the Latest FontAwesome Library to get the other Social Media Icons .
Have noted to have the Developer update the Font Awesome Version in the upcoming update.
