Nectar Slider doesn't register Slider Locations

I am trying to deploy the Nectar Slider for the first time on my site. I'm running current versions of WP and Salient, and my only plugins are EDD, MonsterInsights, Yost, and SayWhat.

When I create a new Slider Location it doesn't register anywhere. I can see the new locations in the Slider Locations list just fine, but they don't show up in the Slide Ordering drop-down, and when I try to add a Nectar Slider to a page, it says "You currently don't have any Slider Locations setup. Please create some and add assign slides to them before using this!"

I've reloaded and disabled and deleted everything I can think of and the behavior persists.

    Please advise, thanks.

    Hey Devon,

Any of those Plugins could be causing the issue .

Could you try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

    Hi Tahir -

I disabled plugins and the behavior persisted.

It does seem unlikely that a third-party plugin would be the cause of the problem. This is not a CSS issue - the admin panel for the Nectar slider itself isn't working.

Attached please see screen grabs showing that I've created Slider Locations and Slides. But when I go to the "Slide Ordering" admin screen, or when I try to place a slider on a Page, there are no Slider Locations in the list.

I have tried disabling plugins and have deleted and re-created all Slider Locations and Slides. No change to this behavior.

    Please advise.

    Hey Again,

Please update to Salient Theme Version 8.5.4 and Salient VC 5.2.4.

If you are not seeing the Plugin Update Notification you need to uncheck the " Disable Theme Reccomended Plugin Notifications " Field in "Salient Theme Options Panel"  -> General Settings -> "Toggle Theme Features" Section .

To get a list of Bug Fixes and new Feature addons in the Latest Theme update,  the changelog can be viewed here : http://themenectar.com/changelogs/salient.html .

Update the theme by following this guide: http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/updating-salient/ .

    Best.

I am already on Salient 8.5.4 and VC 5.2.4.

What is the next step to troubleshoot?

    Hi there,

I hope you are having an awesome day and thanks for contacting us regarding your query.

I suggest you test your customization on the child theme by deactivating the child theme. See if there's anything on your customization causing this.

Let me know how it goes!
    Cheers

How do I do that? Is there a way to do that without disrupting my live site?

    Hey Again,

Yes simply switch to the Parent Theme and see if it fixes the issue .

I'm not sure how to go to the parent theme. I don't think I even created a child theme.

I tried choosing the "Original" theme skin from the Salient control panel. No change in behavior.

Can you provide more specific instructions here please?

    @philosophia

Your PHP Settings are likely not correct. Also ensure you are running PHP version 7.1 and not 7.2 as its incompatible .

You can verify your PHP configuration limits by installing a simple plugin called WordPress phpinfo http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-php-info/

Recommended PHP configuration limits are as follows:

    • max_execution_time 60
    • memory_limit 256M
    • post_max_size 48M
    • upload_max_filesize 48M

Please have your hosting provider fix this for you so it can be installed correctly.

    Thanks
