This seems like a server side issue whereby your server is timing out . Get in touch with your hosting provider and have them check the Error Logs .
Also update to Salient Theme Version 8.5.4 and Salient VC 5.2.4.
If you are not seeing the Plugin Update Notification you need to uncheck the " Disable Theme Reccomended Plugin Notifications " Field in "Salient Theme Options Panel" -> General Settings -> "Toggle Theme Features" Section .
There should be a record of these errors on your error log on the server. That should be a good place to begin.
Also with that version of the site - the one you tested for mobile friendliness - does it not work when you load it on and actual mobile browser on a device?
We are going to escalate this to the developer. We have not had users with similar cases such as yours so we need to diagnose this to find out what is the exact cause and you do not have a fix. As a fellow developer am sure you can understand this.

We identified the Salient template's error, it can't load either videos nor images in sliders because it slows down the website to the point that it just doesn't show up anything, the only way it shows the home page is with a simple image, we also checked that it's not memory shortage from our hosting, it's an internal issue of the template that you should fix, i please ask you to help me fix this problem because i've been working on this for 3 months and it's just not normal, i need to upload at least a slider or a video in my homepage. It's also very important because the template's functionality gets compromised to the point where i cant acces my site and it freezes on my browser.
We just tried with a simple image, but it keeps happening the same, we can't make any modifications without the website failing, try to access it, when you try to access it the first time it shows up completely blank on a private mode and don't refresh it, it just won't show up unless you refresh it.

Which browsers are causing an issue .
Try using the Optimization plugins recommended in this Article http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/performance-optimization-guide/ and check if that makes a difference .
