after installing the theme Salient I installed the child theme. Now I get an error message: The parent theme is missing. Please install the "salient" parent theme.
You need to install the Parent Theme first and Then Install the Child Theme . Also you dont need the child theme if you do not plan to make advanced Template level edits .
I installed the Salient theme again copying the folder into the local htdocs themes folder. The Salient theme is activated and runs. Then I wanted to install the child theme via Dashboard Theme Upload. I get an error message:
"This theme requires a parent theme. Checking if it is installed… The parent theme could not be found. You will need to install the parent theme, salient, before you can use this child theme. Theme installed successfully."

I am local on my laptop. But I think it´s now the point to install a online version on a non local server. That will take a little time ...
The Theme child is now working again. I deleted all WP files and installed the backup files.
