    Hi there. Is there a maximum number of menu categories and subcategories you can use. I am creating a mega menu 6 columns, lots of categories and sub categories. I keep getting this error that directs me to adjust the max-var-...on the php.ini file. Wordpress codex talks about this error and the fix which I followed and upated from 1000 to 10000 variables. Seems to take, then next time I add to the menu it errors again. I keep losing some portions of my menu changes. I'm using the theme as a community news type site, with lots of categories for the blog ie. business, people, community life, health, resources, activities, with each category having several subcategories ie. health: mens health, womens health...; I've already filled one mega 6 column menu under "community life" page. I don't know enough about wordpress to know what the capabilities or limits are for category and sub-category combinations. If this will bog down once multiple content is loaded on each category. Any suggestions for the menu dropping categories, or better way to go about it? Thanks! Khristena

    Hey Khristena!

    I wasn't aware of there being a limit because I have never personally come close to hitting it, but apparently:

    max_input_vars = 5000

    in the php.ini should resolve that. As you've said it does, but only temporarily - I would get in contact with your hosting provider and ask them if there's anything that defaults back to that in place that won't allow you to keep your change.

    Hey Thanks!  The change seems to have taken affect permanently after I restarted Apache (localhost environment).  Not sure, but appears to be working consistently now.
