We are trying to translate the Next Project text at the bottom of the page noted above. It appears - both from your documentation and from my own testing - that the only way to translate strings within Salient is to place the translation files in the salient/lang folder. This is a problem, because those translation files are overwritten when the theme is updated. I have tried placing them in wp-content/languages/themes, and in the lang folder inside the child theme, but neither work. Can you clarify?
In The "Text Domain" field write "salient" without quotes . If you are trying to change woocommerce words add "woocommerce" in "Text domain" . The fields are case-sensitive .
