The 'Page' sitemap does not include the images which are on the page. After lengthy discussion with Yoast SEO, they have determined that the Salient theme may not support this; perhaps due to the Visual Composer page builder.
They recommended that I add this filter (hook) to the theme. Can you advise how I go about adding this filter: wpseo_sitemap_urlimages
Also, if you are aware of this issue and know of a better fix, please advise.
Unfortunately Site SEO is not covered in Theme Support though could you provide the link to the article that suggests adding that filter so that i may take a quick look.
Thanks, Tahir. Here is the link to the article. There are several similar topics covered under this page. The paragraph regarding adding images to the Sitemap via a filter that are blocked by some themes is covered in the second to last paragraph on this page: Add Images To Sitemap Blocked by Themes
Thanks for looking into this. Also, I am not requesting assistance with SEO. I just believe that the theme, for some reason, is blocking the ability for the sitemap to 'link' the images added to the 'Page' (not 'Post).
Is this a Visual Composer issue? I notice I do not have this issue with 'Post' type pages where I directly add the images to the post and do not put the image in a 'gallery' or 'Portfolio'.
Any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated.
Hey Yvonne, I just double checked with WPBakery for confirmation on this - unfortunately they don't currently offer integration with that aspect of Yoast and the reason being is that by default the page builder image elements are contained within shortcodes which don't get parsed by the plugin when scanning the content. Here's what Rohan from their team said in regards:
Hello, The issue is most likely because the shortcodes are not rendered while generating the sitemap and hence the images are handled as normal text. Any sitemap plugin which first renders the shortcode content and then generate the sitemap should work fine.
Adding them through that filter mentioned in the article you shared would take a good deal of custom development and unfortunately isn't as simple as copy & pasting. I've noted the idea and will also request the same to WPBakery. If you want to add some more weight to the request you can also mention it to them through their support forum or the comments for the plugin on ThemeForest
Many thanks for checking into this and for the detailed response. My hosting provider is WP Engine and not WP Bakery. Do you know if WP Engine has the same limitation on this as WP Bakery?

Hey Again,
Yes it could be an issue with VC . Have escalated the ticket so the developer may add in a response.

Hi I AM,

Thanks much,

Hey Again,
The Hosting provider has nothing to do with this . WP Bakery is the Visual Composer Plugin Developer .
