Menu and Template selection for Blog page

This is so frustrating. I am experiencing so many problems with this theme that I should not have to run into. I am spending more time fighting and troubleshooting this theme than creating content.

I thought it would be easier to use this theme than others even after careful research, and all I can say is I am very disappointed.

I have set up the Menu as I want. I have set up the Blog page. I expect to have the Blog page template display blog posts as depicted in the template. This is not happening.

I have tried setting up the menu first, then designated the blog post, to no avail. I still get the plain Wordpress blog display (one post on top of another).

I then deleted the blog page, and the blog menu item to start from scratch.

Next, I set up the Menu again, then created a blog page. I edited the blog page, selecting the template I wanted. I also went into Customize to select which page would be the blog page. None of this did ANY good, as it's like it didn't save, because 1) the template I selected wasn't active when previewing, and 2) nothing was saved (the Blog page was blank, asking for a template), 3) and even when it did save, the template did not show.

    Hey Chris,

Your PHP Settings are likely not correct. Also ensure you are running PHP version 7.1 and not 7.2 as its incompatible .

You can verify your PHP configuration limits by installing a simple plugin called WordPress phpinfo http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-php-info/

Recommended PHP configuration limits are as follows:

    • max_execution_time 60
    • memory_limit 256M
    • post_max_size 48M
    • upload_max_filesize 48M

Please have your hosting provider fix this for you so it can be installed correctly.

    Thanks

I'm running PHP Version 7.0.28. I'll talk to my hosting provider.

The workaround is not designating a blog page in the Customize section. I don't know why this works, but it does.
