Some background. The site I am working on had not been updated for at least a year, so when I logged in last week the Visual Composer wasn't functional. I updated the theme and activated WP Bakery Page Builder. Lots of problems now.
katalinagroup.com uses Portfolio items heavily and they are not working properly. Nectar-love should never be showing but I see it at times. It's irregular in all browsers. I've checked Safari (Version 11.1) and Chrome (Version 65.0.3325.181) on Mac running OSX 10.11.6; and Firefox 47.0.2 and Chrome in Windows 10 environment. I don't see it as a logged in Wordpress admin, unless I launch an incognito window.
Nectar love does not show in Firefox (Version 59.0.2) on Mac but a different problem comes up. Some, not all, portfolio items display "Related" posts. I don't want that. Also, the gallery grid on the home page is jogged to the left. Screenshot attached.
Sometimes (not always) I see "Previous Project" and "Next Project" at the bottom of the portfolio page. I don't want that.
Sometimes the checkmark next to Project Attributes is displayed as two white symbols. In the screenshot attached, you'll see what I mean. Not also the URL. It should show the portfolio item's address, which brings me to my next issue.
I am also experiencing functionality issues. When I click on the home logo, I am not always taken to the homepage. Sometimes it simply refreshes the portfolio item I'm looking at. Sometimes I am taken completely off-site (to the browser's default start page). Similar weird behavior if I use the back button.
I've tried deactivating plugins one at a time to see if there is a conflict. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. ~ Holly
Recommended PHP configuration limits are as follows:
max_execution_time 60
memory_limit 256M
post_max_size 48M
upload_max_filesize 48M
Please have your hosting provider fix this for you so it can be installed correctly.
Also update to Salient Theme Version 8.5.5 and Salient VC 5.4.7.
If you are not seeing the Plugin Update Notification you need to uncheck the " Disable Theme Reccomended Plugin Notifications " Field in "Salient Theme Options Panel" -> General Settings -> "Toggle Theme Features" Section .
Thank you for your quick reply, Tahir. I updated to Salient 8.5.5 prior to these issues. I am using WPBakery Page Builder v5.4.7. My hosting provider updated and configured PHP per your specifications. PHP version is 7.1.16.
Nectar love is mostly gone. When it shows, I see portfolio navigation at the bottom and the double white Project Attributes. When nectar love doesn't show, related posts appears at the bottom.
The gallery on my homepage will still jog to the left sometimes. When it does, the thumbnail titles don't show on hover.
Thank for this, Andrew. I followed every step of the troubleshooting guide, set up W3 Total Cache per the article, and installed BWP as suggested. Other than Salient WPBakery Page Builder, the only other plugin running is Contact Form 7. (The link to the ChangeLog in the troubleshooting guide redirects to the articles, so I wasn't able to view it.) On desktop, I am still sometimes seeing nectar love and project navigation. It's erratic.
And also I'm still experiencing the strange behavior on my Mac. Trackpad scrolling motion doesn't work after I view a portfolio item; using the keyboard to go back brings me to the browser's default start page; sometimes there's no back option at all, either by trackpad or keyboard; if using the keyboard to go back to the homepage, that is usually when the portfolio gallery is jogged to the left and the hover titles are missing; sometimes a portfolio item's URL will display in the URL bar when I'm on the home page. Really weird stuff.
Lastly, the mobile site seems perfect. EXCEPT the hamburger navigation menu items are ginormous. Screenshot attached.
Try turning off the minification plugins and check .
Add this into the Custom CSS box located in your Salient Options panel (All custom css provided is tested in the Live Browser so it will work as intended . If you cant see any changes make sure there is no red cross in the Custom CSS Box as that syntax error would cause all css below it to not show up on the Frontend):
#slide-out-widget-area .inner .off-canvas-menu-container li a {
font-size: 26px !important;
line-height: 36px !important;
}
Thank you for the custom CSS, Tahir. Everything seems to be fixed now. The site is functioning properly in Safari, Chrome and even Firefox, which my boss prefers. It seems like my choice with Salient is to have a site that works but is slow, or to have one that is fast but isn't customized. Since deactivating all optimization plugins, GTmetrix grades the site C/D.
