Hello and thank you for the nice theme. I have a problem setting up the Testimonial slider on http://www.andreamatone.com/portfolio/surprise-proposal/
When I set it up it does appear but I can't get it to populate with my text. It says Click the edit button to add your testimonial independently of what text I enter.
Is there a solution to this?

That's not the style of the Salient testimonial at all so I assume you might have a plugin active that's conflicting. Perhaps a shortcode or page builder plugin?
