I'm trying to make my "full width section" text more readable by placing a semi-transparent layer on top of it. However, the layer is not as wide as the full width section. Have you had success in darkening the full-width section background images to make text more readable?
if you want the overlay to cover the entire BG you might as well just mod the actual image in Photoshop or another graphics editing program since it would be a lot less work.
