    Dear Sir or Madam,

    I've used the Salienttheme for a website. As GDPR (https://gdpr-info.eu/) comes across Europe I'm wondering wether the salient theme is GDPR compliant or not. Do you have any kind of documents regarding this issue for me?

    Hope to hear from you soon.

    Kind regards,

    Sven Foligowski

    Hey Tahir,

    Thanks for your quick reply. The question is wether the Salient theme uses/ processes any personal data of the website user when it is activated?

    personal data (e.g. IP-Address):

    personal data’ means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (‘data subject’); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person;

    processing:

    ‘processing’ means any operation or set of operations which is performed on personal data or on sets of personal data, whether or not by automated means, such as collection, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction;

    Thanks a lot in advance and best wishes,

    Sven

    Sven, I'm not a member of their team, but I didn't see any issue about personal data - processed by Salient (your hosting provider can handle some data, like you indicated). I guess you need to worry about Soundcloud / Youtube integrations, Google Analytics, Wordpress (if you are connected with Jetpack), Spotify playlists, various plugins etc. Buuuut... Wordpress will bring us an important update, with some solutions regarding GDPR. I hope it will be our answer, I can't wait to solve this major problem and I wish you luck, as well!

    hi there, i think there is an issue with the included share buttons. Social Share Buttons from facebook - and so on - tracks user when they are just visting the page and not sharing content. This is not allowed within the GDPR. I've studied some bloggs and found a social share plugin named shariff wrapper: https://de.wordpress.org/plugins/shariff/

    Question: How does the includet share buttons work in salient? If they don't track users, great!  If yes - do you provide an update? Or, how can I implement the shariff wrapper plugin in salient?
