Installing new Salient Version

    I started using Salient years ago and am currently running version 4.9. After a recent upgrade of WP my visual composer is no longer working so I decided to upgrade to the newest version of salient. I have 2 questions: 

    1) Will upgrading to the newest version of Salient break my site? (I've worked really hard to try to make it look good)

    2) When I install the new zip file it keeps failing giving me this message: 

    Unpacking the package…

    Installing the theme…

    Destination folder already exists. /home7/signaty4/public_html/wp-content/themes/salient/

    Theme installation failed.


    Hope someone can help!

    Hey there,

    Thanks for reaching in,

    Salient currently uses the salient page builder not the former visual composer. The upgrade might break your site since the theme has had massive updates since version 4.9 but i wouldn't discourage against it.

    Thanks Andrew. If the upgrade does break my site, am I able to go back to previous version while I figure things out? I just dont want to be without a working site.

    I would advise using a backup plugin incase everything goes wrong you can revert back to a working version of your website. You can have your pick here http://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/7-best-wordpress-backup-plugins-compared-pros-and-cons/
