I tried uploading the them via WP and it came up saying "The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet." I then uploaded directly through file manager and in the theme page it has the following error:

Template is missing. Standalone themes need to have a index.php template file. Child themes need to have a Template header in the style.cssstylesheet.
Could you go into your themeforest.net account, downloads section and download the installation files only option of the theme download. That should give you a zip that you can use to install the theme directly.
The one you have is the all files and documentation zip and contains the theme files and other stuff in it. You cannot use this zip for installing the theme. The one for installing the theme is inside the main one in a salient.zip file.
You can also try and extract that salient.zip from the main zip and use it to install the theme. Hope this clears things up.
