Making changes to portfolio template?

    We are using the portfolio post type to show events (not artwork). 

    I have 2 edits I'd like to make, one (probably) small, the other something that might be more involved:

    1. We're not using the portfolio template for visual work. Is it possible to change the dark gray of the squares to transparent ? 

    2. Is it possible to have each portfolio item's content or extra content show on the main portfolio page?
