I've just purchased your theme and I'm about to get started on a MAMP install to build out the site.
My question is regarding 'best practice' for modifying the theme so that when it's time to upgrade in the future I don't have migration nightmares. I have worked in childtheme frameworks before to avoid stepping on the raw codebase, but I'm unsure how to handle this in your theme.
Also, can you provide guidance for importing my theme modifications from within the CMS when uploading to the live server? I've had headaches before where I had to reconfigure the theme (e.g - background color, typography choices etc) when I went 'live' because the settings didn't migrate.
I have pretty much asked the same question as I built my site locally using mamp and then when moving from dev to live I lost all the settings that I had configured within the Salient options panel.
I have done many wp migrations before and have had issues with text widgets disappearing due to serialization issues with the db, due to the url's differing in character length but I have never come across this where all settings simply disappear with no way of backing them up (that I know of) before moving, so you can import into live, something that I have found to be commonplace on many modern themes.
Sorry I can't be of more help, but I hope the folks here at ThemeNectar can shed some light on this issue.
You can turn on the import export feature in the options with a little mod . Please see http://themenectar.ticksy.com/ticket/187280 . Have added it to the wishlist and will available in future updates.

Hey, Tahir. I've done that but when I try to export my settings I get this error: ERROR: This is not a valid feed template.
Hey Philip!
Please update to version 4.0 . It has import/Export added.
Thanks
