I'm trying to format my home page to display the blog section of my website properly. If you scroll down there is a section there for recent posts using your blog shortcode. However it only displays the post title and none of the text within the post or any of the images. How can I format it so that it displays the first image from the gallery as a thumbnail linking to the blog post as well as an excerpt from the text in the blog?

  • Justin replied

I have figured out the issue. I had the format of the blog post listed as gallery. After changing to standard format it displayed the featured image that I had chosen.

The issue still exists when gallery format is chosen though. I have the navigation arrows appear, but none of the images from the gallery appear in the thumbnails.

I've figured out the excerpt problem on my own too. It doesn't detect text composed using visual composer.

Still having an issue displaying gallery formatted posts in blog widget though.

    Hey Justin!

Unfortunately this would require some custom development. If you really need this modification done you could head on over to Envato Studio which is a service from Envato that offers paid WordPress customizations. I'm sure a developer on there would be able to wrap this up for you :)

    Thanks

Even the gallery formatting bug on blog posts? I've attached an image of what I mean.

    Hey Justin!

Its not a bug, there seems to be a empty flex gallery in there, see screenshot of markup: http://prntscr.com/3dkac8 . Please remove it.
