If none of the above work , its likely that some of the theme files did not copy over and are missing. Could you please try uploading the theme via the Themes Menu in the backend dashboard of WP .
I just tried to reupload the theme and not i am seeing a php error in the theme. Could you please provide ftp login details so i can take a look or delete the salient folder in the themes directory and try to reupload it again.
It seems like a server timeout issue. Please contact your hosting provider and tell him to increase Php 'max_execution_time' because everytime i upload the theme the server does not extract it correctly and therefore the theme gets corrupt since all the files are not there.
Please see the ticket in regards for the solution and if that fails, please raise this issue of the slashes getting stripped to your hsting provider so they can disable whatever server setting is causing that.

Can you try Deactivating all plugins, Switch to default theme and then again switch to Salient.

The ftp details arent correct. The server must be a url and not text only.
