I can't see the option for turning the gallery into an slider in my project configuration. I have wordpress 3.9.1

How can I create a portfolio then?

I meant if you could do a light box of a portfolio element and see all the images inside that portfolio element and slide them with the arrows instead of just the featured image of that singular portfolio element, can I do that?
