Since salient 11 there are multiple text domains for the salient plugins such as "salient-core" and "salient-portfolio" .

With older versions of Salient using SayWhat with the text domain 'salient' I'm also not able to translate things as "Logged in as ... Log out?", "One Comment".
The Text domains have changed due to part of the Code being moved to plugins.
Try using "salient-core" , "salient-portfolio" or "salient-blog" .
