Overwrite salient-portfolio using child theme

    Hello there!

    I am trying to overwrite the salient-portfolio using the child theme. I have copied the helper.php & single-portfolio.php to

    wp-content/themes/salient-child/salient-portfolio/includes/frontend/

    I tried to delete all the codes in the both php files to be able to see its impact but apparently these files are not really overwriting. 

    What did I do wrong?

    Unfortunately not all files are child theme compatible .
