    Matt,

    Use a tool as the following to assist in working out what the issue is;

    There are plugins such as W3 Total Cache that can help improve the speed of your site.

    Two of the main causes can be the size of images and the infrastructure your website is hosted on.

    Hey G!

    Thanks for helping out. @Matthew please try using plugins such as  "Better WP Minify" , "Gzip Ninja" and "Autotimize". Choose which works best on your server.
