Thanks for your work. I have an issue with salient when assigning in Settings > Reading a static page as home page. The site will indefinitely load in the frontend and will load for a long time in the backend. When I turn back the setting to "Last posts" it works fine again. I tried with a new fresh install of Wordpress, without any plugin and the same issue occurs.
It turns out the issue was simply the contents of your blog post (displaying a portfolio element on the main blog page). All I needed to do was place a more tag prior to that so that there was no loop conflict with the blog & portfolio and the issue was fixed :)
