infinite scroll in the homepage

    Hello,

have a problem with Salient and infinite scroll in the homepage.

Programmer who’s helping me has installed the theme and plugins.

Got the following versions (WP, Theme and Plugins):

    • WP version (should be latest as in the dashboard I don’t see any warning to update WP)
    • Salient Version - 12.0
    • Classic Editor - version 1.5
    • Contact Form 7 – version 5.1.7 (says there is version 5.1.8 update)
    • Maintenance – version 3.85
    • MC4WP (mailchimp for wordpress) - version 4.7.7
    • Page Links To – Version 3.3.3
    • Performance Cache – Version 0.2.1
    • Salient Core – Version 1.5
    • Salient Demo Importer – Version 1.2
    • Salient Shortcodes – Version 1.3
    • Salient Social – Version 1.1
    • Salient Widgets – Version 1.1
    • Salient WPBakery Page Builder – Version 6.1

There is no SEO Plugin but I’ll definitely need to install it. Don’t know if Yoast or Rankmath.

There is a total 25 posts (all dummy).

Programmer told me that he set, in theme setting, infinite scroll (this is the way I prefer it).

    PROBLEM:

Tried to load the homepage on Chrome, Firefox and Opera. Firefox I tweaked not to save cookies, Opera and Chrome should have factory settings. Posts won’t load on the homepage. I can see just 9 posts (out of 25). This happens with all browsers. (have attached a video, if needed)

Programmer told me that, in incognito mode, all is correct. (he sent me a video and in incognito mode i can see it loads fine)

I started “arguing” with programmer since I do not understand why I need to use browser in incognito mode (all programmers will excuse me, am a total beginner… no real fight, you know “panic” questions since just need some explanations…).

     QUESTIONS:

    • Why do I need to use incognito mode? Should I use it with all WP installations?
    • You think that one of the plugins might be the cause of the problem?
    • If yes to previous questions, which plugin you think is causing the problem?
    • To test, should I deactivate them 1 by 1? Is it correct?
    • Any suggestion?

    Best Regards, Emil

    Hey ,

    Thanks for using Salient .

Since you have a Caching Plugin installed you need to purge the cache in order to see the changes. If you are still developing it try turning it off and enable it once the site is complete.

    Thanks

    Hello Tahir,

    thanks for your quick reply.

Not sure i properly understood your answer.

    1) you mean: "Performance Cache"?

    2) what do you mean with "purge the cache"?

    3) why did you write if am still developing and the fact that i need to disable the plugin?
Am not worried about development, am worried about users. I loaded the homepage as if i were a user, not a developer, and posts wouldn't load. So, doubt is: "when development is finished and i leave the plugin enabled, will users have the same problem over and over?
The fact, as i wrote in my initial post, is that a user won't be aware of the total number of posts. If he sees just 9 he'll think that there are 9 (while there are 25).....

    Thanks a lot.

    Hey Again,

    1. Yes .

    2. Are you using One.com ?.  Please see : https://help.one.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000080458-How-to-use-the-Performance-Cache-plugin-for-WordPress-#step-6 .

    3. Are you using any Pagination Option in the Blog Element Settings , If not please do so that all the posts show up when any user opens the page .

Futhermore noticed that on One.com there is a Cache TTL which could be causing this : https://help.one.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000080458-How-to-use-the-Performance-Cache-plugin-for-WordPress-#step-4 .

Try setting the value to a lower one or turn it off completely.

    Thanks

    Hello Tahir,

apologies for disturbing you again (hope you understand am a noob).

    ANSWER 2)
On Firefox (on Mac), logged in WP as Admin.
I did what explained in the link you shared (purged performance cache).
Then refreshed page and it worked, all posts load.
Problem is would like users to be able to see all posts too (and not just me after purging cache).

    ANSWER 3.a)

    have added 2 images: ishot-1773 copia.jpg AND ishot-1772 copia.jpg
Hope i was able to apply what you tried to show in the image.
Seems to work (https://www.codicisconto.eu/my_home_2/) as it loads all 25 posts, but  problem is that what you suggested will completely change the look of the homepage i want to create (look @ ishot-1772 copia.jpg).

    ANSWER 3.b)
Cache TTL, turned off..... doesn't seem to have any effect.  Don't know if this takes time to "propagate" as i left it OFF for 1/2 hour or less. Now it's back on.

    So:
    - is there a better way to achieve what i want as far as the hompeage? a plugin? or maybe use one of the preset pages on Salient?
    - we are talking technical here, but still i don't get if users will be able to see infinite posts in the homepage or not WITH NO NEED TO TWEAK ANYTHING or ENTER INTO INCOGNITO MODE?

    Thanks again.

    Tahir,
asked a friend to check the homepage (from his computer).
He got the same error like me: 9 posts out of 25 total.

He sent me a screenshot with an error (have attached it).
Apparently, the error happened after the first 3 - 4 posts were loaded and EXACTLY when he scrolled down the page to load more posts.

    1) an this be the cause of everything?

    Thanks,

    Emil

Gonna escalate this to the developer.

Could you allow us to log in to your website backend dashboard so we can check on this for you more?. We are gonna need the username and password of admin user as well as the login url.

    Thanks

Now (@ the time of writing) infinite scroll seems to work (there is no Performance Cache and the other one seems deactivated).

If its working correctly for you there is no need for us to look into it since this is a server configuration issue and not related to the Salient Theme .

    Hello Tahir,

    thanks for replying.
Apologies for using private mode in previous message..... (nothing secret to hide was more of a test on how it works).

So, all you are saying is that you do not need to correct the error? The one my friend found?
As written in my last message, after disabling performance cache infinite scroll works BUT my surprise is more related to the fact that then i don't need to correct the error.

What i mean is, shouldn't my focus be to correct the error so i can install and use a performance cache plugin (to speedUp and optimize wp)? Or would you recommend optimizing performance in a different way?

Will keep you updated as we test other performance plugins.

    Thanks,
    Emil

    Hey Again,

Unfortunately, we can't help resolve Third Party Plugin conflicts as per Envato Support Policy .

Regarding your question on which Plugins should work to optimize the Salient Theme please see our guide: http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/performance-optimization-guide/ .
