I have searched through Open and Closed tickets and cannot seem to find the solution to getting Visual Composer to work as a raw plugin.
I have followed the instructions to disable Salient Visual Composer in the General Settings. I have also followed the instructions to change the name of the "wpbakery" folder inside of the Salient directory.
I am also using the latest version of Salient (v4.1.1) as well as the latest version of Visual Composer (v4.2.3).
The only clue that I can find is in Ticket #232031 (http://themenectar.ticksy.com/ticket/232031) where the user states he "commented out 'main VC styles' from salient\nectar\assets\css\nectar_meta.css", but I don't really know what that means or how to do that.
Please tell me how I can make Salient compatible with Visual Composer.
Hey John, if you have the Salient VC turned off in the theme options and have renamed the folder wpbakery inside of the theme - everything should work. You can also try simply deleting the wpbakery directory from the theme if renaming doesn't work (just make sure you've turned off that option in the theme options first). If that doesn't work is there anyway you could provide WP admin credntials/FTP credntials so I can inspect what's going on?
I even created a "Sandbox" subdomain to test this on, with nothing installed except for Salient and the only plugin being Visual Composer, and still have the problem.
The issue seems to be Salient's "design" of the visual composer, meaning the dark gray background and the spacing given for the elements (as you can see in the screenshot).
The design of the window is expecting the blue on gray icons, and does not have room to display the text, etc. for the Visual Composer raw plugin. So most likely this means that the raw Visual Composer is "working" just fine, I just can't see the elements to use them.
The solution (even though I don't know how to do this) would seem to be to edit the code that instructs Wordpress the size, color, and attributes of the pop-up window for choosing content elements. (Again, see the attached screenshot.)
Your right - there are a few styles that are supposed to be contained within the Salient VC but are actually in the nectar global admin stylesheet - you can remove them yourself for now in the nectar_meta.css stylesheet located inside nectar/assets/css directory. Once inside just search for :
/* main VC styles */
- i'll be moving these into the plugin itself in the upcoming minor update so this won't be needed.
