Masonry portfolio padding (gutter size)

I am using the masonry portfolio widget on the home page of my website. I want the padding around each image to be 15px (or maybe 10px), but right now it shows 20px. I have changed the Project Item Spacing setting several times to other sizes like 15 or 10px, but on the site, it's still showing 20px no matter what I do.

I also tried manually forcing a different padding size via hand-coded css. While that works, the images don't align properly anymore because it's not dynamically adjusting since it's not going through your settings/code. Can you explain to me what might be causing the settings to be ignored? I've attached screenshots of my settings and the padding on the images I'm talking about. I can provide a temporary admin login if you need it.
