I'm trying to create a video blog post. I'm not sure if this is a Salient theme related issue, but I thought it would make sense to start here as I am using the Salient theme. I followed this tutorial to create a video blog post, which apparently should make the embeded video also become the featured image of the post (when viewing all the posts of my website here), but instead nothing appears, you just see the title with the author and date posted. The embeded video does appear on single posts however like this post.
Also, is there a way to have the video appear at the top of the page in a single post with the title below it?
The Video Blog Post won't create a Thumb Image automatically. Try turning off the Masonry Option in the Blog Page Element Settings and the Video should appear in the Thumb View.
Thanks, I turned off the Masonry option in the Salient blog style options, but still not seeing the video appear as the featured image. Am I missing something? I'm uncertain what you mean by the image not being created automatically. Does this mean I need to make the image manually? From that tutorial I watched it appears the video becomes the featured image automatically once the blog post is set as a video blog post with the embeded code? See attached images of what my settings are set to now with the result.
My first image didn't upload correctly, so I deleted it from the previous post. I had to create a new post since this forum doesn't let me re-upload additional images while editing my post.
Does the Salient theme still support adding a video as a featured image on a video blog post? The tutorial I originally linked to is from three years ago from someone using the Salient theme, but maybe that feature no longer works on the current version of WordPress and Salient? I also tried adding the full YouTube link into the content section of the video blog post using this tutorial and it just shows the text of the youtube link in the blog post thumbnail instead of the video itself.
Could you allow us to log in to your website backend dashboard so we can check on this for you more?. We are gonna need the username and password of admin user as well as the login url.
However, when checking the Short Films page all the blog posts thumbnails still do not show the YouTube video I added to the post as "Embedded Code" (see attached image). Am I missing something?
The blog element that's in use on the Short Films page was still set to use the "Material" masonry style. I've edited that for you as well (see attached).

Hey Again,
The Video Blog Post won't create a Thumb Image automatically. Try turning off the Masonry Option in the Blog Page Element Settings and the Video should appear in the Thumb View.
Thanks

Had a problem with the image again, but just fixed it, so finally here is the original image.

Is there any update on this? Is this a feature of the Salient theme or I need to use a separate plugin to do this?
Hey Doirecity1_1983 & Keith,
This functionality is still available in Salient, but only in the "Classic" masonry and "Classic" non masonry blog layouts.
Doirecity1_1983 - I made the change to that layout in your blog options, so it should be working as expected now in your setup
Thank you ThemeNectar,
However, when checking the Short Films page all the blog posts thumbnails still do not show the YouTube video I added to the post as "Embedded Code" (see attached image). Am I missing something?
Hey Doirecity1_1983,
The blog element that's in use on the Short Films page was still set to use the "Material" masonry style. I've edited that for you as well (see attached).
Cheers
Thank you so much ThemeNectar for helping me solve this problem. I am very grateful for you taking the time to answer my questions.
You're welcome Doirecity1_1983
