Specify position of these labels is really crucial. If you have a set of labels/categories which eg include ARCHIVE (a-z) amongst others, this category would be positioned in the first place. It's not the way it should be.
An alternative to sorting filter label is to reposition them using custom css. could you provide the kind of arrangement you would like filter labels to have I take a closer look and provide a custom css solution.
