Hi I need help setting a post grid. I have downloaded the content view's plugin as I couldn't seem to get the type of post grid I wanted from salient but this plugin doesn't seem to work with the theme. I then thought I could potentially use the portfolio but I'm not sure how to assign a portfolio to a page. 

Is there a way of creating a post grid with literally just a featured image and a button taking you to the post? And is a portfolio seperate from posts or can the posts on the site be displayed in a portfolio style? 

Any help would be appreciated. I've spent 2 solid days trying to figure this out and now my brain is officially scrambled egg.
