Since the site is a returning a 404 (not found error) when saving, I would suspect that your server has a security module such as Mod_security with an incorrect rule set that's triggering a false positive.

If you contact your hosting company with the above information, they should be able to whitelist the wp-admin or disable the module to fix the problem.
