Please take a backup of your theme folder before you update so that if there are any changes made to the theme files they are not lost.
You can update your theme by downloading a fresh copy from ThemeForest, deleting the current version you have on your server and uploading the new.
It's recommended that you use FTP, but this also can be done with the WP dashboard if you prefer. The reason FTP is superior for this is because the theme won't have to be deactivated during the process so you won't have to reassign your widgets. If you're
interested in keeping up to date with the latest changes and fixes, please refer to the changelog: http://themenectar.com/changelogs/salient.html
Also, remember to clear your browser cache after each update if you notice anything off. Old theme files can persist in your local cache and make you think something's wrong.
Also please see this FAQ: http://themenectar.ticksy.com/faq/2252 .
Yes, it is the youtube video links I am referring to. They used to show the player and suddenly turned into links? If I use the video player shortcode now, I only get links?
Currently I have worked around it by using the Salient RAW HTML shortcode and pasting the youtube embed link.
@I Am Nectar - Here are a couple of links. The video player does not seem to work anymore... To clarify, it used to work. But now when putting the youtube link in the video player URL section it just shows a link on the page, rather than the actual video player...
At the bottom of the page (happened on other pages to), the video player would show up. Suddenly it only show the link, which works?

I have this issue. I upgraded to 4.5.2 and it still shows a link instead of a video player. Cleared browser cache. Even tried different browsers.
Upgraded but the video player still only shows the link.
Hey Guys,
Dennis - I can't see any videos on your home page other than the youtube embeds at the bottom, is that what you're referring to?
K Mcd - If you can share a URL to the page where this occurs i'd be glad to take a look :)
Cheers

Not sure how the video player broke. Thanks.

Yes you have the same issue. You can work around it using Raw HTML shortcode and embedding the link there. It will then show up.
This will work until the Video Player issue is resolved.
Hey Guys - can you quickly test is this video works when pasted into the video link?

WordPress might've just changed the acceptable url format for videos since the visual composer video element has not been edited in a long time.
It worked.
Thanks for the confirmation! I'm still investigating if WP did indeed change the acceptable embed URL structure but that seems to be the case
It worked for me too... What I discovered is, videos with this style link will work...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdgJ1ZEAC10
But videos with this style of link (direct link generated by youtube) do not work...

Thanks for all the support. Closing ticket.
