I am noticing iconsmind and fonts are a big drag on performance.
FYI - I was able to get a bit of a bump by turning off "Force Dynamic CSS to Inline In Head". But I'm still not where I was at.
I was able to get really good results with the Perfmatters.io plugin. However, I noticed that merely having the plugin enabled (with no further configured settings), made some of the Salient options stop working (single images, highlighted text, Rotating Words). So, I disabled the plugin.
Still looks like the google fonts and icons are having a big drag. As is woocommerce, which the perfmatters plugin was able to remove those issues— but the plugin wasn't compatible with Salient theme features.

After Updating your theme, please update the plugins as well and clear cache so that the new files can take effect.

Yup. All plugin updated. And all caches have been cleared. I've also given it 48 hours just to be sure...

Try using the Optimization plugins recommended in this Article http://themenectar.com/docs/salient/performance-optimization-guide/ and check if that makes a difference .
