Custom CSS in pages get lost when updating theme

    I've got some custom CSS in some pages. When I update my theme, these custom-CSS settings always get lost.

    I'm updating my theme via the backend, which means I backup the settings, delete the theme and install the new one. Is that the problem? Is the only solution to apply the update via FTP?

    Yes if you want to keep the settings you have to update via ftp.
